 ABSTRACT

A field experiment was carried out  at the research farm of Tuber Crops Research Sub-Centre, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Munshiganj, Bangladesh   during rabi season of  2012-2013 with four different cutting viz. one eye tuber, two eye tuber, half cut tuber and whole tuber of four promising potato varieties i.e; Diamant, Asterix, Granola and Cardinal. To find out appropriate cutting size or condition of tuber as well as the suitable variety for profitable cultivation and also minimize the production cost response of the variety to the cutting condition. Yield and yield contributing characters and most of the plant characters were significantly varied in case of main effects and the interaction effects. The highest yield 43.42 t/ha was observed in variety diamant with 2-eyed cutting condition and lowest yield produced by granola with one eyed cutting conditions.
