ABSTRACT
The study was conducted at the Department of Economics, Asian University of Bangladesh, Dhaka Bangladesh during June to December 2014. Livestock is an indigenous farming system in Bangladesh. Many changes have happened from 1982 to 1992 that means over 10 years number of cattle and buffaloes, sheep, goats and poultry increase about 20 lac, 121 lac and 374 lac respectively. In addition, from 2002 to 2012, in last 10 years, number of cattle and buffaloes, sheep and goats and poultry are increased about 4 lac, 28 lac and 9 lac respectively. However, we get a clear indication that livestock population increases in Bangladesh in decreasing rate over 20 years. Besides, if we consider annual growth rate, it is decreasing also over the year. It is a common demand from the society because Bangladeshis are non-vegetarian so there is a growing demand for meat domestically in Bangladesh. It will also help to alleviate poverty from Bangladesh through Livestock farming.
