ABSTRACT
The study was conducted at the JTPDC Wing, Product Development Division, Product Design and Engineering Department, Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI), Dhaka, Bangladesh during January 2019 to March 2020. Blended fabrics are becoming preferred by young new generation due to environmental concept. This study presents the development of 50% jute and 50% cotton blended curtain fabric through electronic rapier loom. A study on the physical properties of developed jute cotton blended curtain fabric is performed in this work. The blending ratio of jute: cotton of our developed yarn is 50:50 which have been used as the weft yarn in the jute-cotton blended curtain fabric which can be used for other decorative purposes. The physio-mechanical properties of the blended curtain fabrics were inspected such as tensile strength, stiffness, GSM, thickness and air permeability etc. The results and data of the study show that the quality of developed jute-cotton curtain fabric is satisfactory. The hand feel, appearance and smoothness of blended curtain fabric is also good. If the blended curtain fabric is produced by industry level. The consumption of jute as well as environment friendly jute cotton blended products like curtain fabric will increase.
