ABSTRACT
The study was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Burirhat Farm, Rangpur, Bangladesh during Rabi season 2013-2014 and 2014 -2015 to find out the best intercropping in this study with seven potato cucumber leafy vegetable intercropping. The seven treatments were sole potato (60 cm × 25 cm) (T1), 100 % potato + 100% cucumber (T2), 100% potato + 2 rows onion (plant to plant 10 cm) + 1 row cucumber (pit to pit 2m) (T3), 100 % potato + 2 rows radish (plant to plant 30 cm) + 1 row cucumber (pit to pit 2m) (T4), 100 % potato + 2 rows red amaranth (line sowing) + 1 row cucumber (pit to pit 2m) (T5), 100% potato + 2 rows spinach (Continuous sowing) + 1 row cucumber (pit to pit 2m) (T6), and 100 % potato + 2 rows garlic (plant to plant 10 cm) + 1 row cucumber (pit to pit 2m) (T7). The highest yield (65.43 t ha-1) was given from 100 % potato + 2 rows onion + 1 row cucumber (T3) treatment. The second highest yield was showed from 100 % potato + 2 rows radish + 1 row cucumber (T4) treatment and followed by 100% potato + 2 rows spinach +1 row cucumber (T6) treatment. The lowest yield (27.16 t ha-1) was gotten up from sole potato that means T1 treatment. The highest gross margin Tk. 573150 ha-1 was seen from onion intercropping However, considering of yield performance the 100 % potato + 2 rows onion + 1 row cucumber (T3) treatment was the best intercropping with compeer to other treatments.
