ABSTRACT
The study was conducted at Mechanical Processing Division of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI), Dhaka, Bangladesh during 2014 to 2016. Winding is the last part of spinning process and first part of weaving process. Spool winding machine is used for winding the warp yarn and then the spool is delivered into the weaving section. Generally wooden or paper spool is used for this machine. Wooden spool is used in the machine of experimental spinning mill of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute. But wooden spool is not available in the market and it also becomes affected by the temperature and wood worm. On the other hand paper spool is available in the market and it has no problem with temperature and worm. Paper spool is also cost effective than the wooden spool. To use paper spool in the spool winding machine of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute some modification of the machine was done. After that we measured the numbers of end breakage for all jute yarn and two types of blended yarn in paper spool and wooden spool. It was found almost same result in all cases. That means paper spool can be used in that machine.
