ABSTRACT

A field trail was conducted at MohipurChar, Gangachara, under Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Burirhat, Rangpur, Bangladesh during Rabi season 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 with seven varieties of BARI hybrid maize to find out the yield performance compare to other Hybrid verities and lines in char land. The varieties were BARI Hybrid maize-7, BARI Hybrid maize-9, BARI Hybrid maize-13, BARI Hybrid maize-14, HTMA-19 and HTMA- 21 and local hybrid variety Elit and Kaberi. Some variation was found in plant height, number of grain per cob, grain yield /plant, and 1000 seed weight (g.).The yield performance of BARI hybrid maize-12, BARI hybrid maize-13, BARI hybrid maize-14 and BARI hybrid maize-15 and local hybrid (Elit) were performed significantly same yield in 2017-2018. This grain yield was around 10.00 – 11.00 t/ha. The lowest yield was obtained from BARI hybrid -7. The tallest plant was BARI hybrid- 9 andBARI hybrid -12in 2017-2018.The yield performance BARI Hybrid maize -9, HTMA-21 and Elit were given significantly same yield in 2018-2019.
