ABSTRACT
The study was conducted at the Department of Agricultural Extension & Information System, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207, Bangladesh during September to October 2006 to ascertain the extent of use of information sources by the resource-poor farmers in receiving information on HYV Boro rice production. Attempt was also made to explore the relationship between the selected characteristics of the resources-poor farmers and their use of information sources. Data were collected from at two villages namely Lashkarpur and Kachina in Charekkaria union under Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal district. Data were collected through interview schedule. The findings indicate that 82 percent of the respondents had medium use while 13 percent had high use and only 5 percent had low use of information sources. Neighbors were the height used information source. As regards relationship, age of farmers had insignificant relationship with their use of information sources. Education, farming experience, farm size, animal income, organizational participation, cosmopoliteness and agricultural knowledge had positive significant relationship with the use of information sources.
