ABSTRACT

The experiment was conducted in pots in shade houses at the trial field at Department of Soil Science, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during November, 2018 to March, 2019 to evaluate the effect of organic fertilizer (cattle manure) and mono ammonium phosphate (Morocco) MAP-M and (Tunisia) MAP-T and on available Cadmium (Cd) levels in soil where Cd uptake by Tomato grown on Clay loam, Loam and Sandy loam. Fertilization treatments were control (without fertilization), mature (cattle manure) (20g kg-1 soil), MAP-M (0.1g kg-1 soil), MAP-T (0.1g kg-1 soil). In the experiment the concentration of available Cd level was higher in Clay loam (0.071 mg kg-1) than in Loam (0.053 mg kg-1) and Sandy loam (0.038 mg kg-1). The manure application had no significant effect on increased extractable Cd content in all soils as compared to control. Available Cd level was decreased for Clay loam in MAP-M (0.043 mg kg-1) than in Control (0.051mg kg-1) but increased in Manure (0.059mg kg-1) and MAP-T (0.067 mg kg-1) whereas same result was found in Loam and Sandy loam. Otherwise Cd concentration was decreased in Sandy loam than Loam and Clay loam for all treatments that’s Control, Manure, MAP-M and MAP-T. The use of Manure decreased Cd concentration in tomato for all treatments as Control, Manure, MAP-M and MAP-T of all types of soil. Tomato weight was highest in manure treatment in all soil types but yield was highest in Loamy soil than in Clay loam and Loam of all treatments that’s Control, Manure, MAP-M and MAP-T.
