ABSTRACT
The study was carried out at the Barara union in Sadar Upazila under Mymensingh district of Bangladesh during the boro season (2018) to investigate the influence of crop field distance from the brick field on yield and nutrient content of BRRIDhan 28. The experiment was conducted in three sites viz. 250m (S1), 500m (S2) and 750m (S3) away from the brick fields. In each site three plots of 10 m2 size were used for rice production. The rice plants were harvested, yield data were recorded and N, P and S content was analyzed. At 1st sampling the highest no. of leaves (18) was recorded in S1 and lowest (14) S3 respectively. At 2nd sampling the highest no. of leaves (62) was recorded in S2 and lowest (50) S3 respectively. The highest grain and straw yields (19 and 52 g plot-1) were recorded in S1 and S3 respectively. The lowest grain and straw yields (15 and 42 g plot-1) were recorded in S3 and S2 respectively. The highest plant height (105 cm) was recorded in S3 and lowest (94 cm) respectively. The highest panicle length (24.78 cm) was recorded in S2 and lowest (23.45 cm) S3 respectively. The highest grain panicle-1 (112) was recorded in S2 and lowest (101) S1 respectively. The highest grain hill-1 (135) was recorded in S2 and lowest (118) S1 respectively. The highest 1000 grain weight (33.17g) was recorded in S3 and lowest (31.76g) S1 respectively. Among grain and straw N, P and S content, straw highest P was recorded (0.0001) in S1 and lowest (0.006) S3 were significantly influenced by distance from the brick field.
